West Coast Wednesdays: Hot off the Press from the West

On Wednesdays, We Drop on the West!

This Wednesday, the West is outside and representing. Many Hot Singles and albums were released today, and I’m feeling it. First, we have some new music from Dogg Pound on the recent release of W.A.W.G. (We All We Got). Some track suggestions are ‘Favorite Color Blue,’ and for me, that’s true: all shades. This song is for the steppers, clown dancers, krumpers, and C-walkers. Show us that footwork. ’Need Some Space’ ft. Blxst . (Chee!) A compatible collaboration of G-funk and R&B.

‘House Party’ is a nostalgic throwback that I expect the Uncles to blast on their motorcycles during Sunday Cruise. The song is a sweet reminder of house parties, Summer BBQs, dominoes, and a good time. “The Weekend’ ft. Jane Handcock is a bop about Lovers spending the weekend together. Ms. Handcock lays out the entire itinerary vocally.

The album is a traditional West Coast gem by Dogg Pound featuring the Dogg House Family. It was great to see all the West Coast Faves: Lady of Rage, Dogg Pound, Tre-D,  Tha Eastsidedaz, and the featured artists. My added two cents is that I wish we could’ve heard from Latoiya, Kola Loc, and Coniyac. W.A.W.G. is a great album and will be in the playlist rotation.

Roddy Rich released 'Survivors Remorse,' which is said to be doing really well on Spotify streaming stats. I enjoyed the Gospel undertone to the track. La Rusell & Warren G 'Set the Record Straight' wants y'all to know that he doesn't just make music; he's "cultivating an artistic renaissance" and building infrastructure. LA Wray's 'This Ya Song' is for A** Shakin', sampling Petey Pablo's 'Freak A Leak.' Ladies & Lads, go ahead and get your groove on. Wray made this one for you. The CuzzosX5 is a Lassie rap group from Los Angeles that recently hit my radar, and I'm vibing with their style. Check out their single 'Pop Out,' sometimes you have to. Mr. Aye Aye, Aye Aye himself is back with his new single, 'Dreams.' We can always count on Larry June for a fly cruise tune. DJ Quick, Jason Martin, Jay Worthy, Bun B, Currensy, and Bun B hit us with a star-studded line-up on their new track 'Since I Was Lil.' Everyone slayed their verse, 'Since I Was Lil' is a good West Coast/Southern rap mash-up; y'all know the West loves the South! Hit-Boy, Jay 305, and Dom Kennedy are making it known who wants a piece on their new song, 'Pieces.' The artists are making it clear they peeped the game and are moving accordingly. Stream 'Pieces' and get a portion of their new single.

Make sure to grab your tickets for the 3rd Annual Set Gala, which will be held on July 20th and has the theme Rodeo on Vermont.
